Hi…

I’m Budi, born in Jakarta-Indonesia, and currently exploring south asian region. I’m married to Prita and we’re blessed with two sons, Tama and Rayi.

My background relates to architecture, urban planning, disaster mitigation, geographic information system (GIS), spatial database management, photography, and graphic design.

My latest research was about tsunami escape building and location-allocation modeling for tsunami evacuation in the urban planning context. It is aimed to develop a methodology in facility (escape building) allocation particularly in a post-disaster reconstruction process. The case study is of Meulaboh and Banda Aceh City, Indonesia. I’m currently working with Asian Disaster Preparedness Center Bangkok as a GIS Specialist on the tsunami and earthquake preparedness program in Bangladesh. Previously I was an urban planner and GIS specialist in PT. Lippo Karawaci Tbk., an urban developer company in Indonesia. My job was to plan, prepare, and develop the GIS application for the estate planning, town maintenance and management, as well as sales and marketing support. Besides, I also provide the planning and design advice to the construction process of the growing Lippo Karawaci Town, Tangerang. I got involved with the GIS-works extensively by pursuing a master program at the UPLA-ITC Enshcede, The Netherlands, focusing on GIS and remote sensing application for the urban planning and management.

Working as an architect, urban planner, and GIS specialist enables me to go places (some are remote areas) accommodating my hobby in traveling and photography. I also did some graphic design works as well as contributed my photos for a historical book publishing in Indonesia. I developed my self in research and photography during my undergraduate period when joining the Center for Studies and Documentation of Archipelago’s Mosque Masjid2000 as well as the Club of Photography Jepret at the Department of Architecture Intitute of Technology Bandung Indonesia.
